The Girls Who Code Club

Attached with the eLearning Centre is the activity of Girls Who Code.  Girls Who
Code is a US based NGO and is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology. It is building the largest pipeline of future female engineers in the United States.  Girls Who Code offers learning opportunities to young girl students to deepen their computer science skills as well as their confidence.

In 1995, 37% of computer scientists were women. Today, it’s only 24%. If we do nothing, in ten years the number of women in computing will decrease to just 22%.

At eLearning Centre in Qayam Nagar, the Girls Who Code club was formed by Nisha, a Helping Hands Volunteer.  Her active participation has not only trained several girl students from nearby schools from the classes VIII – X, but has created a passion for computer science and its applications.  Nisha and the members of the Club were highly appreciated by Mr Mahesh Patel, Director, Global Engineering Source, Pratt & Whitney, USA and felicitated her recently.
