The Foundation Stone for Light House which was laid on 15 Aug ’18, finally “illuminated” on 4 Jan ’20 with the annual seminar of All India Nahjul Balagha Society. As the name indicates, Light House is expected to dispel light on all spheres – from knowledge building to skill development to placement to empowerment. Like a beacon, “Light House” shall inspire the youth and encourage them to excel in all walks of life. The ground plus 5 storey building with an area of 12,200 sft has a conference hall, computer lab, library, and a capacity to hold several parallel classes on skill development.
Several activities have already been initiated. SAFA has started an adult education program wherein adults in the age group 15-30 are trained for various skills to be placed within 6 months. Two batches of 30 each are being trained and few more batches can also be started. “Babul Ilm Library”, comprising of more than 10 thousand books and periodicals also work on on all days of the week from 10 am to 5 pm.
For the convenience of old city beneficiaries, Helping Hands also has a working office in Light House, open Mon – Sat, 10 am to 5 pm.
